In preparation for the 10th coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade I, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, a central planning committee has been inaugurated at the Adeboruwa Palace.
The committee, which was inaugurated by Oba Kasali on Sunday, is chaired by the former Head of Service, Lagos State, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe.
The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo ascended the throne of his ancestors on July 25, 2016, when the former Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwumi Ambode, presented him with staff of office and certificate of recognition.
While inaugurating the committee, Oba Kasali said that he realised that many of those that were contacted on the anniversary were also having the plan in their minds. The royal father also acknowledged individuals that have brought different ideas on the anniversary, stressing that God is involved in the planning.
Adeboruwa expressed his satisfaction in the composition of the committee and their capacity to deliver and give a befitting anniversary celebration.
While stating that people’s expectation is very high, Oba Kasali urged the committee to mobilise necessary resources within the kingdom, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, state, nationally and internationally, to have a historic celebration.
Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe accepting the task on behalf of the committee said that the 10 -year reign of the Adeboruwa is a milestone that deserves to be celebrated. He stated that Igbogbo Kingdom has witnessed tremendous development during the period listing infrastructure, economic and social development.
While urging members to be prepared for the task ahead, the committee chair unveiled a week – long programme between Sunday, July 19th to Saturday, July 25th, for the celebration. He highlighted some of the features of the celebration to include press conference, Church thanksgiving, inauguration of a developmental foundation, compilation of achievement in the last 10 years, installation of honourary chiefs, novelty match, traditional homage, community and market day, medical outreach, and grand finale among others.
Odofin Tajudeen Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo, also speaking commended members of the committee for answering the clarion call. He urged them to use the 10th coronation celebration to unite Igbogbo and bring eminent personalities to honour the Adeboruwa and bring development to Igbogbo.
Other members of the committee are Chief Jelili Oduntan, the Balogun of Igbogbo representing the Adeboruwa -in -Council. Chief (Mrs) Adebimpe Akinsola, former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture as Vice Chairman Planning Committee, and Mr Babatunde Afuwape will serve as the Secretary of the committee.
Among other members were Omoba Hammed Aroyewun, Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Mr Waheed Kasali, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Engr. Lateef Oduntan, Secretary IDEA, Alhaji Wale Amusa, CEO HOMAT Group of Schools, Otunba Sesan Daini, former Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Alhaji Sheriff Jinadu, Chairman, Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, Engr. Femi Kalejaiye, former Chairman, Igbogbo Day Planning Committee and Dr Leke Dankuwo, President, Igbogbo Youth Forum among others.
